FreeBMD provides free information on deaths, births and marriages in England and Wales which can save you a fortune if you are trying to research your family tree or just being nosy.
The FreeBMD project is not yet completed but at the moment it contains over 200,000,000 records so it is well on its way.
Tracing your family tree has become quite common especially with the popularity of TV programmes such as Who do you think you are? on the BBC where they traced the family history of famous people such as Patsy Kensit, Jerry Springer and Boris Johnson.
