If you enjoy playing chess then Postcard Chess allows you to either play against the computer online or to play against real people using their email chess system.
At first I thought the computer was fairly easy to beat as I won my first two games but since then its beat me every time and somehow I think there may have been some beginners luck involved in my early successes. Or maybe it was just bad luck in my other games!

Free Risk Game
If you enjoy playing Risk where you aim to takeover the world using your armies then you will probably enjoy playing Imperial Takeover. It is just like playing the real board game but since boards are old fashioned you get to play online against real people for free.
You can either play a game online the now or if you prefer you can spread the game over several days by playing people in different timezones - this lets you spend a bit longer planning your moves at being a megalomaniac.

Kings of Chaos is a free to play online strategy game where you can build armies, recruit friends, buy weapons and battle other players to try and be the King of Chaos.
The game is fairly basic as are the graphics but if you are looking to waste some time and would like to waste some orcs or undead creatures then why not give it a try for free.
